Secondary Analysis of DHS

RESPOND conducted a secondary analysis of DHS data and other data sets. The analysis is being used to produce data for country profiles, to develop materials for countries receiving technical assistance from the Project, and to write peer review journal articles. The analysis has been structured around three research questions:

  1. Who are current LA/PM users and how do they differ (by age, parity, geographic, wealth quintiles, etc.) from other modern method users, traditional method users, and non-users?
  2. What is the potential market for LA/PM? How big is it and what segments of the population are viable targets for LA/PM?
  3. Do countries that have had a significant increase in LA/PM use have comparatively higher economic and development indicators than countries that have not had increases in LA/PM use?

Answers to each of the research questions will be featured in a series research papers highlighting results and recommendations. The following countries will be included in the global analysis:  Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Benin, Bolivia, Cambodia, Colombia, Dominican Republic, DRC, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guinea, Haiti, Honduras, India (UP), Jordan, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique, Nepal, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Rwanda, Senegal, Tanzania, Uganda, Ukraine, Vietnam, Zambia.
